Perfect book for beginners wanting to learn the basics of Salesforce.com. I have used other CRM's in the past, but my new position required that I know Salesforce.com. I was familiar with the CRM, however, I required some more, in-depth, knowledge on the system. The Dummies Series of books has always been a good starting source for me, so I didn't think I could go wrong with this book.If you're looking for in-depth, advanced functionality, this is not the book for you. However, if you are new to Salesforce.com or have a basic understanding but want to get up to speed on how to use the platform, then I highly recommend the Dummies guide. The book is so informative that the copy I purchased is being passed around to other employees to read and learn from. Now, I just need the company to pay for their copies so I can have mine back!

I find this resource to be very helpful with my workplace responsibilities in working in Salesforce. Easy to follow format along with simple techniques listed. This book is NOT for a true beginner though. I have used Salesforce in the past making this resource more relevant to my needs. 5 stars if truly for "Dummies". 4 stars as it relates better to the novice level.

I was disappointed. My first For Dummies disppointment. The openning was a blatent sales pitch. Since I paid for the book, there shouldn't be an openning that's all sles. Since I'm new to sales, I wanted a discussion on how to use Salesforce.com to help manage the contacts and accounts for my consulting business. The book went through what buttons to push to mechancally use the current version. After giving up on the book, I found many white papers and some videos online that both gave me direction and showed me how to use the Salesforce.com application. I am now an ardent user of Salesforce.com. Skip the book. Save some money.

Best of the “For Dummies” books I’ve read so far. I used this book as a guide and “how to” in installing and customizing Salesforce.

I run a small business that supports Non-profits manage their donor database. Salesforce.com has been our product of choice. While this doesn't speak to the Non-Profit package perfectly, it does provide some great basic support for set-up, maintenance, and training. It's a good go to for when we want to do something new in Salesforce.com. I would say it's the perfect companion to SalesForce.com's on-line training tools.

I'd used Salesforce before, but it was a propriety form owned by the organization I worked for. I'd never had formal training, and I was going nuts trying to figure out what was a lead and what was a contact. And converting leads - oh, the anguish. As with every "For Dummies" books I've read, this was written by an expert, and was a big help. Well worthwhile having it on hand.

The book was very well written for a beginner and answered a lot of questions. Not an in-depth manual but a very good place to start. The Table of Contents is detailed so finding information when you need it is very convenient. Not the book's fault but Salesforce changes so rapidly that any book will be slightly out of date before it's even printed.

I bought this book becuase I work for a very large corporation that uses saleforce.com and I wanted more infomation on how I could utilize it. The information in the book is SO outdated. There is no point in buying this. What a waste of money!
