This book is definitely an eye-opener. Chapter 5 When We Ignore Unethical Behavior is my favorite chapter and helped me realize why I and other people often just excuse or let unethical behavior go without challenge. While some of the things in this book could be debated, it also offers a lot of great explanations and gives a different perspective to ethics. Readers can immediately relate this back to their own lives or the lives of people they know due to the understandable explanations the book gives to its main sections. I would suggest that people read this book because it will help them realize that they could do better then what they're doing now , even if they're doing good. This book helped my realize my own short comings as a person and that I want better people in my life.

I found the book useful and helpful, but overall, it's a bit difficult to get a wealth of help from two authors who agree there are no core ethics that people need to follow - that what's right is relative.Yet look at every society across the ages and you'll see that no matter where (or when) you do, things like honesty and integrity are valued, and lying and stealing are bad.Still, the book had some good points and helpful questions.

You are not as ethical as you think you are. That is the basic message from behavioral ethicists of this book. It's an interesting mix of cognitive research with anecdotes on why it is that people in business do unethical things. An easy read for the most part, but with plenty of substance. Can be a bit redundant. Really good for people who want to understand why, despite their best intentions, we still end up making mistakes and doing things we know are unethical, even after the fact. Recommended.

Even if I wasn't in a business ethics class, I would consider reading this book. It is very insightful and allows the reader to uncover the ethical blind spots between how ethical you think you are and how ethical you actually are. A learning experience.

Worn out by intense preaching and prayer, he died in 1716 and was canonized by Pope Ven. Pius XII in 1947.

I wanted to know what the history of the Holy Rosary was. I had no idea. This is one of the books I bought to find out. Completely deserves 5 stars. Buy it. It's not that expensive and will greatly enrich you, which is in itself a sign of divine truth.

Excellent paperback version of Louis de Montfort's original work with some supplementary materials. It was great to renew my Marian consecration with this book (after using the Fr Gaitley version and others). However, it's not laid out like a 33-day prep, more just de Montfort's explanations of the devotion and why it's good.

I loved this book and I recommend it to anyone who wants to be closer to our mother Mary. Thank you. JoAnn.

Jack Kerouac taped together hundreds of pages of paper, imbibed enough drugs to keep him awake for several days, and sat down to memorialize the Beat Generation, in "On The Road." In a sense, Eric's book does something similar for his generation. At first the reader is reluctant to have any sympathy for the young man from a yacht-racing Bahamian family with a Greenwich, CT girlfriend. Then - as his journey around the world starts - you realize that what you had thought were his advantages, were really demons that the he was battling as he sought his transition to manhood. Eric knew from the first time he cast off the lines on "Stornoway" that his feelings for his college sweatheart, Margaret, were not going to survive the voyage. He could sense that when he returned to the Bahamas, his relationship with his family would be different. So began his right of passage under the guardianship of "Stornaway"'s mercurial owner Chris Treahy, who would hide that fact that he was terminally ill until near the end of the voyage.There is no vanity in this story. Appropriately, there is self-deprecating humor. Late in the book, Eric thanks the reader for their patience, citing "the conference of...two gripping fevers (of youth)- passion and ignorance." There is no need to apologize. As George Bernard Shaw said - "Youth is wasted on the young."

Being family-friendly this cookbook offers plenty of recipes to choose from. There are recipes being light and meatless, some are perfect for those who are 100 % meat-and-potatoes guys. I think this cookbook is well-organized, and there are tons of recipes for Paleo dieters to enjoy. I’m happy I decided to buy this cookbook because I’ve had previous unpleasant experiences with the cookbooks bought here, on Amazon, and this recipe book did not disappoint me at all. Beef stew and chicken stew were absolutely perfect – it’s a must in our daily rotation now.

Some of the recipes may be a little bit confusing for those whose instant pot is not new enough to fit the settings which are written in this cookbook. Apart from that the instructions are simple, the author makes these recipes real and absolutely worth trying. There is no meal plan to get you started but you can make a meal plan of your own and proceed with it in accordance to your macros. You can use the leftovers of the previous meal to reheat them the next day and they will be just as good (sometimes even better than the day before).

Fun and easy cooking at home with all the possible flavors and winning texture combinations. The breakfast section is probably my favorite one since it is jam-packed with simple options suitable even for the absolute beginners. All recipes contain nutritional info and I appreciate this fact A LOT since you will be able to incorporate them into almost any diet you’re currently following. Their recipes are flexible on ingredients too so if you don’t have some of the ingredients you will be able to substitute them with the ingredients you currently have on hand. For me, this cookbook is a winning choice.

I’m looking forward to these weekend days when I will be able to spare enough time for cooking and find out whether this cookbook is really as good as it is promised. If in doubt either to order this cookbook or not I recommend you to get it and check it out for yourself because clearly no reviews can help you to judge the whole picture that is laying in front of you. My sister has told me I will not be disappointed with this cookbook and I hope this statement would be true.

Resourceful cookbook both for Paleo beginners and old-hand cavemen.:)I've been following Paleo diet for some time now and being a relatively good cook worked with various recipes and ingredients. Book by Vincent Brian gave me the opportunity to take a rest from strange and even exotic foods I've got myself into and spend some time preparing family-friendly comfy meals. All the detailed information on every recipe is included in this cookbook; the only thing you have to do is follow these instructions accurately and get the best possible outcome!

You will discover that eating healthy foods can be not only good for you but also easy, tasty and fun at the same time

The recipes are pretty reliable – they mostly have five ingredients, and work well even if you have very little experience of dealing with your instant pot. It’s a good cookbook to have on hand in a pinch and it’s a good cookbook to use when you have no other cookbook for your instant pot to refer to. Mostly recipes are good, some of them have their cooking times a little bit off, but it’s not a problem since any person can edit the timing in accordance with the cooking time he’s capable of following.

Before testing this recipe book I had purchased I decided to look through it and decided whether I would like to cook from it. As you can see, I took the positive decision, and have spent about forty man hours doing necessary preparations for various meals (this having a full-time job). These recipes are 100 % worth trying, and they won’t disappoint you in any way – that’s for sure.

It's humorous, but get tired of reading about the same political or other subject several days in a row.

Returned Not what I expected

My husband buys one of these calendars every year and keeps it on his desk. The whole family enjoys the gags and jokes.

I am not making this up: I cannot make it through the year without my daily Dave Barry calendar. His observations can make me laugh out loud like no one else, except maybe John Pinette!

Got this as a gift.Ok, yes, I love Dave Barry, but the calendar days (I'm only on Jan 14...) are too full of liberal political commentary bordering on stupid race and class "observations", like saying Trump's pick of Mike Pence means "the Republicans will have a balanced ticket consisting of both a white male billionaire and a white male non-billionaire. Something for everybody!"That is not that funny, and seems to be below his usual standards. Maybe the people who put together his calendar are showing poor judgement in letting their biases show through in their selections. Not all the calendar is made up of political quotes, but a lot of it is, and it is the usual liberal boilerplate making fun of: white, male, rich, Republican, etc.So, not wanting politics everywhere in my life, including my calendar ( I already threw out my Ben and Jerry's ice cream after they came up with "Pecan Resist" - my freezer is another place I am not looking for virtue signalling), I have replaced it with one made up of months and days in little white squares. Just the dates, folks.

He's still funny after all these years. A laugh almost everyday.

I bought Labyrinth Lost on Kindle and 20% into the book, I ordered a hardback copy. It’s that good.Labyrinth Lost revolves around Alex, a bruja living in Brooklyn with her mother and two sisters who also have magical abilities. The problem is that Alex doesn’t want to be a bruja and on the day she’s supposed to receive her blessing from her ancestors, she tries to wish her powers away- and ends up exiling her family to Los Lagos. Realizing her mistake, she sets out to bring them back but runs into a dark and sinister force in this other realm.When this book first came out, I saw it everywhere. Twitter, tumblr, blogs… I could not escape this beautiful cover. I decided to wait and give it a few weeks to let the hype settle down before I read it because I feel like a lot of times we get swept up in other people’s exuberance for a book and miss the experience for ourselves. What I realized was that the hype around this book isn’t actually hype- it’s just that good.The plot is strong and the pacing flows. There were several parts where the author could have bogged us down with details and chose not to which kept the plot pushing forward. I’ve seen reviews where people are criticizing the handful of answered questions we were left with and that cliffhanger ending, but hello! Sequel!I loved all of the characters and I think the author did a pretty good job on hashing out their personalities… except for one character and it was almost enough for me to drop a star from the rating. Alex has two love interests in this story- Nova and Rishi. Nova is fleshed out and given an entire backstory and has a very strong personality. Rishi, on the other hand, we don’t get much about her besides the fact that she likes Alex and she jumped into a portal. That’s it. I can give you all sorts of facts about Nova but really nothing about Rishi. Which was terribly disappointing to me. I felt like I was forced to want Alex to go for Nova because I know all these things about him. Rishi felt very bland and dry and I really didn’t care if anything happened between her and Alex. And this is coming from someone who generally always prefer f/f ships to m/f ships.There is also PROPER BISEXUAL REPRESENTATION in this book. None of this “half gay” stuff or “gay for you” or “straight for you”. PROPER. BISEXUAL. REPRESENTATION. Let that sink in.I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes magical girls, magical boys, sarcasm, and ancestors being sassy.

I'm not normally one for witch stories, but these are brujas. I have to admit that I don't see a lot out there that mix magical realism with Latinx characters, so I just had to give this one a shot and I'm so glad that I did. The reviews of several other book bloggers, particularly diverse book bloggers may have helped too.That blurb doesn't really begin to tell the reader the half of it. Don't get me wrong, I don't expect spoilers in the blurb, but simply saying that she hates magic is a little off, in my opinion. She hates magic in that Elsa from Frozen kind of way. She's not ridding herself of a measly amount of power that isn't all that useful anyway or some part of herself that she doesn't feel like she identifies with. She's ridding herself of the dangerous power that she feels overwhelming her ability to control it and out of fear of what might happen were she to lose control. Sure, there are some other reasons in there and they are perfectly understandable 'I wanna be a normal girl' reasons, but I feel like those would have been manageable if not under the colossal weight of her power.The setup is done well and I felt like I had a good grasp of the characters and where everyone stood when the plot took off. Then there's Los Lagos and the insanity ensues. I enjoyed the darkness of it. Rather than Wonderland, which is what the back cover uses, I found Los Lagos reminded me of Oz. There is an order to things, no matter how unsettling they are and the inhabitants know what that order is. Moreover, each one is just trying to do the best they can within their circumstances in much the same way as the inhabitants of Oz. they have their own motivations that are not tied to our protagonist which makes them a bit unpredictable to her and to the reader.The worlds that stories take place in are one of my favorite parts of reading, it's why I tend to lean toward paranormal and science fiction and one of the things that's been a new joy to historical fiction. I loved the world building of this book. It's not just Los Lagos but also the world building to create this community of brujas and integrate them into Brooklyn. It's beautifully done.I look forward to the next installment!
