This book starts off very interesting. If you are an art afficiando you've heard of the Gardner museum heist, but you won't learn anything here. I've read a dozen or more magazine and news articles about the case over the years and this author really offered nothing new. That, and the fact that this book is nearly 10 years old means that the info it contains is just outdated. One glaring example: the author spends chapters tying the heist to a famous Boston mobster who has since been captured and is now in prison. IF this gangster had ANYTHING to do with the heist, he would have bargained with the stolen artworks for a lighter sentence. He didn't, so, obviously, had nothing to do with the theft. I do have to say the beginning chapters discussing the world of art theft and recovery were quite informative.

The author did a ton of research and seamlessly interwoven with great story telling created a book that is hard to put down. I knew absolutely zilch about this crime or art museums heists' before reading this book, but throughout reading this I was constantly telling people about parts of this book because it was so full of fascinating information. Highly recommend this book.

The author did much research on actual mystery - involving a famous gallery. My background is in art,so, perhaps I found it more interesting than many people might. I particularly liked his recounting of some well-known art forgers and their work. It reinforced my long held conviction that I had NOT seen the authentic "Mona Lisa" but an excellent forgery. (No, I am not going to write a book - but if any body else feels the same, chime in). I saw herin January , 1976 - at the Louvre, of course. I felt the same way about a painting ascribed to Rembrandt - which waslater proved not to by his hand.

Caught the Gardner bug. The book was published in 2008 and the mystery has still not been solved. I find it hard to believe that the FBI never interviewed a witness that saw the two robbers that night or didn't interview the witness on a timely basis. A good resource for someone still hunting and hoping for the reward. Fascinating story real!y. I'd vote that David Turner was the culprit. I wish I could write the tell all story of his life!

I enjoyed this book as I am from Boston and have been going to that museum all of my life and know about all of the characters involved. It was very readable too, but somehow I was hoping for something more in the matter of "whodunnit".

Very good history of Isabella Stuart Gardner and the heist in 1990 of some of the best paintings at the museum. Went to visit the museum in Boston and read the book first the get the feel.

As an Art History student interested in the role of plunder in recent history, it was a great read. However I can understand how this could be a little bit boring as it is very dense. It does provide a very thorough insight into the heist though and is a great read for anyone interested in such subjects.

A fine read that exposes the high end Art World, their security systems, and the priceless art itself to the general reader. This 1990 Heist took place in one of Boston's most loved museums which was poorly managed with a weak board of good hearted but clueless directors. I could only wonder why a museum filled with priceless art would so openly leave the art exposed and guarded by minimum wage security personnel who received little to no training and who had little interest in the masterpieces they were surrounded by. The characters introduced by the author are a colorful lot and added to the overall experience of reading this book.

The 12th Planet (Book I) (The First Book of the Earth Chronicles), by Zecharia Sitchin

Review

"One of the most important books on Earth's roots ever written." (East West Journal)"Sitchin is a zealous investigator into man's origins . . . a dazzling performance." (Kirkus Reviews)"Sitchin's works are outstandingly different from all others that present this central theme. His linguistic skills in the languages of antiquity and his pursuit of the earliest available texts and artifacts make possible the wealth of photographs and line drawings appearing in his books from tablets, monuments, murals, pottery, and seals." (Rosemary Decker, historian and researcher)"Read this book to see from a perspective not often offered. Read it to expand your picture of our tiny existence. And beyond that, just enjoy the theorizing and information provided. There are few places that you can find such a compilation." (News Worth World in Perspective, Oct 2007)" . . . an array of evidence to support the assertion that the earth had been visited by ancient alien astronauts in its past. Sitchin based his conclusions on the written records of Sumer, the "sudden civilization" that sprang up virtually overnight in the Tigris-Euphrates Valley of modern Iraq." (American Buddhist Journal, Feb 2009)" . . . [supplies] an array of evidence to support the assertion that the earth had been visited by ancient alien astronauts in its past. Sitchin based his conclusions on the written records of Sumer, the 'sudden civilization' that sprang up virtually overnight in the Tigris-Euphrates Valley of modern Iraq. . . . he found an astonishing array of facts that could be corroborated by modern research. What he found was literally mind boggling in 1976, and it remains so today." (Wisdom Quarterly: American Buddhist Journal, Feb 2009)“Exciting . . . credible . . . most provocative and compelling. The 12th Planet presents documentation for a radical new theory which, by answering some age-old questions, merely widens the ripples in the pool. (As the author notes, “If the Nefilim . . . created Man on Earth, who created the Nefilim?”) (Library Journal)“For thousands of years priests, poets, and scientists have tried to explain how man was created. . . . Now a recognized scholar has come forth with a theory that is the most astonishing of all.” (United Press International)

From the Inside Flap

Dear Reader, The Earth Chronicles series is based on the premise that mythology is the depository of ancient recollections, that the Bible should be read literally as a historic-scientific document, and that ancient civilizations were the product of knowledge brought to Earth by the Anunnaki-- “Those who from Heaven to Earth came.” Complementing each other and serving to bring the saga of gods and humans on Earth ever closer to our time, each book of the series looks at this awesome tale from a different perspective. The 12th Planet, the first book of the series, brings to life the Sumerian civilization and presents millennia-old evidence of the existence of Nibiru, the home planet of the Anunnaki, and the landings of the Anunnaki on Earth every 3,600 years. The Stairway to Heaven, the second book, incorporates ancient Egyptian evidence to show that the gateway between the mortal and the divine was a spaceport in the Sinai Peninsula, with the Giza pyramids and the Sphinx serving as beacons for the landings. The Wars of Gods and Men, the third book, additionally embraces Canaanite, Hittite, and Hindu sources to include in these investigations the incidents of the Tower of Babel and the upheaval of Sodom and Gomorrah, concluding that nuclear weapons were used on Earth 4,000 years ago. The Lost Realms, the fourth book, transports readers to the pre-Columbian civilizations and ancient empires of the Americas, revealing hitherto unrecognized golden links between ancient Near Eastern civilizations and the “cities of the gods” of the Olmecs, Mayas, Aztecs, and Incas. When Time Began, the fifth book, explores ancient knowledge of Heaven and Earth and the interwoven cycles that gave rise to astronomy, the zodiac and astrology, and stone calendars such as Stonehenge, revealing the secret of New Ages past and future. And The Cosmic Code, the sixth book in the series, explains how the secrets of humankind’s celestial teachers were encoded in the Bible and other sacred and hidden “books”--a cosmic code that links Earthlings to their cosmic roots. In the years since each book was published, new scientific discoveries have provided mounting corroboration of the series’ incredible and unorthodox science-based conclusions. This accumulation of discoveries and the origins of humankind and the solar system are further discussed in the companion books Genesis Revisited and Divine Encounters. I trust that modern science will continue to confirm ancient knowledge. Zecharia Sitchin was born in Russia and grew up in Palestine, where he acquired a profound knowledge of modern and ancient Hebrew, other Semitic and European languages, the Old Testament, and the history and archaeology of the Near East. A graduate of the University of London with a degree in economic history, he worked as a journalist and editor for many years prior to undertaking his life’s work--The Earth Chronicles. One of the few scholars able to read the clay tablets and interpret ancient Sumerian and Akkadian, Sitchin based The Earth Chronicles series on the texts and pictorial evidence recorded by the ancient civilizations of the Near East. His books have been widely translated, reprinted in paperback editions, converted to Braille for the blind, and featured on radio and television programs.

This book and its companion volumes changed my life over the course of the 4-5 years that it took me to read all of Sitchin's books (known collectively as "The Earth Chronicles" of which "The 12th Planet" is the first). From the beginning I was struck by how the books made so much sense. Relegated to sci-fi sections in bookstores, Sitchin's research and writings are obviously a threat to the version of history and religion to which we have all been subjected over the last few hundred years. Far from being conspiratorial, however, Sitchin is careful to describe his own writings as translations of the texts that he spent his life transcribing, leaving it up to the reader to relate these translations to contemporary memes. With the utmost respect for Sitchin as scholar and writer, I am the first to admit that reading them was not easy and may more appropriately attract an academically-inclined reader. It took my full concentration over a period of many months to get through the volumes and keep all the players straight across each volume (taking notes as I went along helped immensely). That said, "The 12th Planet" is appropriately the first and by far the most important and most comprehensive of the series. I am aware of only a few people who have attempted to condense these volumes into an easy-to-read 'clif's notes' type review of Sitchin's books, and though the 2-3 I've come across were no doubt helpful, they could never substitute for taking the time to truly immerse yourself in the work and study these translations. Highly recommend for those with time and interest.

I have been questioning the western account of our past since I was a teen. There were too many issues that did not fit. Myquestioning goes as deep as the Bible itself. After researching Mr. Sitchin, and his accusations, there is much more logic in his given account of the beginning than anything else I have come across.

WOW What a read this book helps make sense of the Bible and in fact shows that the Bible is a True yet watered down account of what actually took place at the dawn of civilization. This read is absolutely one of the best accounts I've found so far and a Must read it clears up many questions that are left unanswered in the Bible. I come away from this enlightened as will you

... yes I do! Zecharia Sitchin brings into focus so much of the Bible shrouded in mystery ... its Cliff's Note summary gaps allowing too much interpretation for misguidance, ultimately resulting in religious wars. Sitchin fills in some of the blanks and it makes absolute sense.I traveled to Peru after reading the first three books in The 12th Planet series. Awing the wonders with an entirely new understanding than the tired, worn out assumptions of anthropology and boxed religious rantings. The 12th Planet is not an easy read unless you are well versed in myth(?)ology. I finally gave up and bought his Index making it much easier. Not a book of fiction, rather based upon reliable research, excellent quotes from substantiating references, The 12th Planet will awaken knowledge you know, but have lost through generations of DNA reconditioning. Political/religious control/manipulation.The 12th Planet is Sitchin's life work. Spirited into the subject as a child by a teachers inability to answer his questions ... her attempt to corral his mind into isolated, acceptable thought ... Sitchin stretched his mind ... learned to read the Sumerian language, allowing his research into ancient records that few have dared to travel, because the information potentially destroys current religious culture/beliefs. If only minds would open to the possibilities Stitchin offers in his literature. Perhaps sooner than later, since science is discovering new huge planets that could support life; how the moon was formed, all pointing to the man who for years purported a truth everyone snubbed. I wish only he had lived long enough to see his research validated by the very sciences that ignored, even castigated his work.It took me three months to read The 12th Planet. 1) Each character with various names depending upon the culture being discussed, and succeeding paragraph easily change cultures, 2) So much knowledge is packed into every page, some page ideas stumped me. I had to put the book down for several days or weeks to digest the new way of seeing, which in some respects will totally distort currently held belief systems ... especially fundamental Baptist upbringings, even though already I was way past that box, or so I thought.Sitchin brought me so much farther. He opened my eyes, expanded my mind, offered me new possibilities for my very existence. And, I believe.NOT RECOMMENDED for orthodox Christians unwilling to consider possibilities outside the theology of the church. To read Sitchin's works, one must be treading a Spiritual Path, willing to accept new ideas, able to open their vision that just maybe we are the fabric of another race ... without erasing the fact there is a Creator ... One, who created all things and another, that just possibly formed us out of the clay ... just not exactly the way we have been led to believe.I Believe. Do you?

This book is so loaded with profound research and archeological discoveries that it will knock you out.Try to argue with ancient writing tablets with a detailed presentation of the structure of our universe and the twelve planets that reside there. Try to argue with Old Testament scriptures that lock into a rational study of a diagram of orbits unknown to the modern world but practically accepted B.C. Enjoy this Hebrew scholar's rich understanding of a language foreign to us all until modern digs gave up many details that complete a believable picture of gods who flew to Earth and back to Heaven.Of Man the Slave and Adam created long after another superior race was already formed from Nibiru.Meet extraterrestrials who brought advanced civilization we knew nothing about. We were not the first ones on Earth and this will prove it with a rich bibliography of consenting contributors of brilliant languages.

Wow, if you ever wondered where we come from, from real teachings and ancient writings, you need to read this book. Our bible of today is so man made up of so much crap. This book is the real deal.

From the Back Cover

Learning and Inquiry-Based Reuse Adoption Software Engineering Could software reuse play an important role in your organization? For over two decades, a dedicated community of software engineering researchers and practitioners have wrestled with the challenges of introducing systematic reuse in large-scale software development. Successful systematic reuse relies on a set of learning disciplines that can transform IT-intensive groups and companies into knowledge creating organizations. These disciplines require shifts in fundamental, implicit beliefs about software technology, knowledge sharing, and organizational realities. Without a grasp of these underlying dynamics, reuse advocates may actually strengthen resistance to reuse initiatives in the engineering culture of software organizations, while rational concerns about cost justifications or technology transfer issues fall secondary. In this groundbreaking book, four experts with broad experience in reuse research, methods, technologies, and practice present a unique approach to reuse assessment and adoption, which directly addresses these challenges. LIBRA offers a radically new, inquiry-based approach, grounded in practical techniques for assessing an organization's readiness for reuse, as well as potential barriers. These techniques integrate reuse concepts with a diverse set of other disciplines, including organizational learning, dramatic theory, and belief mapping to affirm the critical role of culture, belief, and attitude in engineering success. LIBRA is essential reading for software project managers, strategic planners, CTOs and technology transfer agents, or working software engineers; and especially any advocate attempting to introduce reuse practices within an IT-intensive business setting. The multidisciplinary nature of this practical reference will also interest change agents in non-software fields, such as knowledge management and organizational development; and can serve as a graduate-level text for software engineering or management specialty courses.

I have been cooking for about 70 years; and, I have been cooking North African (and, Moroccan) food for over 15 years. I have somewhere between 4,000 and 5,000 cookbooks, embracing the Cuisines of the World.I have found Ms Basan's books to be "comfortably easy" to read; and, well-worth a place on my Kitchen Shelf. She "knows her stuff" when it comes to writing a cook book! Her books are informative; well-researched; and, above all, the recipes work! [They also allow one to "play around" with the "ingrediments" without creating a "kitchen disaster!" (I borrowed that word--ingrediments-- from Walt Kelly's comic strip character, "Pogo" )]Whether you are an experienced chef; or, just a neophyte cook that likes to have fun in the kitchen, you will find pleasure in this book and the dishes you will put on the table. . .I can say without any reservation: Get your own copy 'cuz I'm using mine! This book is a fine addition to Ms Basan's "works of art". . .And, deserves a place in the culinary library of every person who fancies themselves a cook!Tagine: Spicy Stews from Morocco

a really excellent cookbook with easy to follow Moroccan tagines. Rather than the traditional tagines, Most of these recipes take the essentials of the classics and then expand to make a gourmet dish. I have a lot of experience cooking Moroccan food and these are really delicious! Highly recommend it.

Bought this for a friend and loved it so much I bought myself one. I have another book on tagine cooking, but this one looked too good to pass up--especially for the price. If you are new to this type of cuisine, I would try this one... not a million ingredients needed and very approachable recipes...meat, seafood, and vegetarian. A previous review complained of the use of cooked fruit...this is a very common ingredient in Morocco, dried apricots, raisins, etc., are prevalent. I don't like that much fruit in my savory meals either, so I simply use it sparingly. Another review stated they wished there were more vegetarian recipes, I found there to be quite a lot! And those with meat can be made w/o the meat. In fact, some of the recipes in front of book using lamb, I will substitute chicken or beef bc I am not a fan of lamb. You still get the different spice mixes and blends to make each of those recipes different than another. Recipes can always be tweaked. These are no exception. Cooking is not an exact science like baking is, so make it your own. It shouldn't hold one back from seeing the good that this book offers. There's a color pic of each recipe too, which I love! It has fewer recipes than other books, but it's also half the price of other books. So I think to be fair, you have to look at all the pros and cons, and for the money, this is a good book to have.

If you have recently purchased a Tagine and are thinking "now what do I do," here's your answer. This small but bright and beautiful cookbook is chock full of a large variety of meals to be fixed in the wonderful pot called a Tagine. My granddaughter is a vegetarian and had purchased a Tagine to stir up all her concoctions in. Since I like to use formal recipes a bit more than she does, I bought the pot and started a search for the right cookbook. Of all of them this is the one I liked best. It explains the methodology, shows a few types of tagines, including the one I bought, and gives a little background history. But best of all is the large variety of recipes to be cooked in this wonderful, and very attractive, stovetop pot. Don't think that the book is exclusively a vegetarian cookbook. It's not. Moroccans love their lamb, beef and chicken dishes. But there are quite a few "vegetables only" dishes too. In short, I love this cookbook. Oh, I almost forgot, a number of the meals require preserved lemons. If you cannot find them at your local stores, you can purchase them through Amazon.

An initial disclaimer that I do not have a Tajine cook-pot but use a cast iron pot and my oven and it works like a charm. Typically, for a Tajine, you will need to keep the moisture for that goodness to develop so a heavy pot bringing back the steam down may do.The book now: nice pictures but the Kindle version is a bit ill-formatted with for example, one page you get huge letters font, another a normal size letter or the next recipe starting on the same page than the one you read, funny titles squished on the right hand side and so on. If I had the source, I would do better ... The book is lacking a comprehensive front index you can use to jump directly to your favorite recipe (it is a section index only) which I find to be a major miss for a recipe book (there is a detailed index at the end). The recipes themselves are fine and the book starts with some cultural background and a review of the essential ingredients you will need (and how to make them) which is a plus. I tried the lamb with honey prunes and apricots, was quite fun of the lamb and quinces (I did not have quinces so, got some inspiration), the chicken with preserved lemon - all are close to authentic. The book also has less traditional recipe in my view: I never heard of a Chorizo based Tajine and some of the recipes are closer to traditional couscous than Tajine. In the fish section, the recipe seem "generic Mediterranean" (like the Monkfish with black olive - I have eaten variance of this from Spain to the south of France) rather than Moroccan specific. But the book will do well for you to get inspirations.

Mazzucato has written a timely book in an age in which economists and the public alike seem too often to confuse wealth with value. We once understood price as a reasonable gauge for value, but not anymore. In modern capitalism and globalisation, value can be faked. As a result, we often do not see the difference between people and things that create value and those that extract value. What do financial people do when they move assets from one place to another? Are they creating value or just extracting value? In classical economics, ‘value’ is the result of productive activities. In earlier versions of economic thought, we have Adam Smith’s theory of value based on the productivity of labour. In modern times, there are sectors that do not produce anything except moving existing assets around instead of creating new assets. It is now assumed that anything that has a price has value. How do we verify the claims by large financial institutions that their employees are the most productive in the world? How do we value their productivity when no new assets had been created by them? The conflation between productivity and value is the illusion Mazzucato seeks to dispel in this book. Mazzucato is in no doubt that the financial sector extracts value, and she discusses how it does this. In the chapter, ‘The Rise of Casino Capitalism’, she explains how extraction is done by the insertion of a wedge, namely, a ‘transaction cost’ between the providers and the receivers of finance. They also achieved through monopoly power, and lastly, through high charges relative to risks run, especially in fund management. In the case of economic downturns, what should be done? Should the government intervene, and if so, in small parts or in major moves? Or should the government keep out and leave it entirely to market forces? The author seems to support the Keynesian method of controlled intervention. Some economists argue otherwise, but Mazzucato’s arguments in the chapter, ‘Undervaluing the Public Sector’ is persuasive. Mazzucato examines the current history of economic activities and the impact of technology. In understanding the idea of value, we can better understand the distribution of income among different sectors of society. It is a fascinating book that is a joy to read because it covers economics, including its technical and historical aspects, lucidly for the layman. It takes us through the history of economics and the way ‘value’ had been defined and used, to the rise of the financial colossuses, and how they changed the idea of value and the impact that has made. She discusses the difference between creating value and extracting value, and the role of the government in stabilising the economy when takers (those who extract value) disrupt the economy create false value against the real value of the makers (people who produce value). Mazzucato invites us to determine what sort of economy do we want? In so doing, she explains what markets are and how they can shape the economy – so that we can shape the markets. Technology propels us so rapidly that in the end, we may have reached the end – unless we take control and create an economy that is sustainable not just for markets, not just for takers, not just for ourselves, but for the planet.

Mazzucato is one of the most interesting economists working today. I say this because her project in the last two books focus on a ground-up redetermination of what is important in the economy. To someone like me, who is interested in the social generation and distribution of resources but who think that policy makers went the wrong way in recent years (especially before 2008, see Bernanke to Friedman: “Let me end my talk by abusing slightly my status as an official representative of the Federal Reserve. I would like to say to Milton and Anna: Regarding the Great Depression. You're right, we did it. We're very sorry. But thanks to you, we won't do it again. “) this book is just catnip. So much catnip that I stayed up too late a couple of nights in a row reading it.Mazzucato, in this book, looks at where value was theoretically derived historically from the physiocrats to Smith through Marx and into the marginal revolution. She focuses the critique on the marginalists and the composition of current GDP about how it focus to much on the market – how what has a price has value and nothing else. For Mazzucato, this sidelines non-market institutions like the government which are long-term value creators but left out of market considerations because what they do doesn’t have a price. It is a compelling argument to look at how we analyze “the economy” in a different light.

I bought this book because I read the entrepreneurial state. This book in my opinion in a very easy to understand way for non-economists argues that we have to return to a much more basic question - the question of value creation, what is it and what is it not?The book starts with a theory historical perspective that are incredible easy to understand on how value have been conceptualized. This theory perspective gives a clear guideline to the different perspectives and the development towards a subjective understanding of value and what problems that rises. In particular the consistent discussion of rent seeking or value extraction is important - even though it might for some readers at first glance will be seen as a finance and neoliberal ideology bashing, it works by closer consideration as a tool to positive start a discussion of what value creation really means.By going this way the author succeed in forcing us to reconsider our everyday concepts of the state, and in particular its role in creating long term value and prosperity. Inevitable it comes to question and ask questions of how to define and understand the value of the common good, growth, innovation and entrepreneurship. From a more organizational and sociological perspective she forces us to consider how we run private business, how we extract value from the business both in terms of distribution (top versus other stakeholders). It forces anyone working in business to think if we are just rent-seekers or we actually create some value for all stakeholders.I find this book very helpful to think about politics, economy, sociology and organizational science.

Perfect book for beginners wanting to learn the basics of Salesforce.com. I have used other CRM's in the past, but my new position required that I know Salesforce.com. I was familiar with the CRM, however, I required some more, in-depth, knowledge on the system. The Dummies Series of books has always been a good starting source for me, so I didn't think I could go wrong with this book.If you're looking for in-depth, advanced functionality, this is not the book for you. However, if you are new to Salesforce.com or have a basic understanding but want to get up to speed on how to use the platform, then I highly recommend the Dummies guide. The book is so informative that the copy I purchased is being passed around to other employees to read and learn from. Now, I just need the company to pay for their copies so I can have mine back!

I find this resource to be very helpful with my workplace responsibilities in working in Salesforce. Easy to follow format along with simple techniques listed. This book is NOT for a true beginner though. I have used Salesforce in the past making this resource more relevant to my needs. 5 stars if truly for "Dummies". 4 stars as it relates better to the novice level.

I was disappointed. My first For Dummies disppointment. The openning was a blatent sales pitch. Since I paid for the book, there shouldn't be an openning that's all sles. Since I'm new to sales, I wanted a discussion on how to use Salesforce.com to help manage the contacts and accounts for my consulting business. The book went through what buttons to push to mechancally use the current version. After giving up on the book, I found many white papers and some videos online that both gave me direction and showed me how to use the Salesforce.com application. I am now an ardent user of Salesforce.com. Skip the book. Save some money.

Best of the “For Dummies” books I’ve read so far. I used this book as a guide and “how to” in installing and customizing Salesforce.

I run a small business that supports Non-profits manage their donor database. Salesforce.com has been our product of choice. While this doesn't speak to the Non-Profit package perfectly, it does provide some great basic support for set-up, maintenance, and training. It's a good go to for when we want to do something new in Salesforce.com. I would say it's the perfect companion to SalesForce.com's on-line training tools.

I'd used Salesforce before, but it was a propriety form owned by the organization I worked for. I'd never had formal training, and I was going nuts trying to figure out what was a lead and what was a contact. And converting leads - oh, the anguish. As with every "For Dummies" books I've read, this was written by an expert, and was a big help. Well worthwhile having it on hand.

The book was very well written for a beginner and answered a lot of questions. Not an in-depth manual but a very good place to start. The Table of Contents is detailed so finding information when you need it is very convenient. Not the book's fault but Salesforce changes so rapidly that any book will be slightly out of date before it's even printed.

I bought this book becuase I work for a very large corporation that uses saleforce.com and I wanted more infomation on how I could utilize it. The information in the book is SO outdated. There is no point in buying this. What a waste of money!

What a great book. It makes intermittent fasting easy. It’s easy read with great tips. I watch her YouTube channel six miles to supper and always learn something new.

I began watching Kayla’s channel not long after I began IF for the second time this past June. I have found the information she shares to be heartfelt and helpful. (No matter what amount of weight you want to lose, or if you are just trying out IF). She generously shares her time and experience week after week at no charge. I am happy to support her by buying this wonderful book. And, having just finished it, have decided to take some of her suggestions and apply them. For instance... I gave up all tracking a decade ago because my perfectionist tendencies made it emotionally difficult. She has some really great suggestions about how to deal with this and my hope is that it will mean I have more consistency in my IF!The only other thing I want to note is that the author consumes half and half during the day. Technically speaking this consumption of energy (calories) means that it Is not a “fast”. So the bulk of her calories are eaten at her one evening meal. That being said, her plan has worked wonderfully for her. It just depends on what your goals are for having a fasting window (autophagy, ketosis, etc.)

Who knew that there was a way to lose weight/fast with such a laid back approach? I didn't think it was possible! Kayla's story first caught my attention on YouTube, as I was intrigued by this popular practice called intermittent fasting. The "laid back" approach is definitely more my style, albeit slower, but more sustainable in my book. I've tried so many other diets and methods and I have still been getting steadily heavier every year. So, what do I have to lose!? Several pounds and a bunch of negative self talk and emotions with it! Kayla does a great job walking you through the process as she shares all the discoveries she made in her own successful journey. I'd encourage anyone to give this approach a try. This book has really enriched my journey, and I'm already finding success with it!

Hi, this is a very very very good book! This is the only book (of many IF books that I've read) that gave me the permission to drink my coffee with milk! Every other book on IF insists that you need to drink your coffee black in order to follow their plan. I've always felt like a failure doing other IF-plans because of this and this led to my inconsistency in sticking to any plan. When I read Kayla's book, something clicked. I do not have to be perfect in my IF-approach. I can drink my coffee with milk and still fast till dinner and see results! This was so freeing. I am so glad that I have read this book!

This book is perfect! Kayla’s precise and organized style of writing was easy to read, understand, and implement. I love the bulleted lists at the end of each chapter with the main points highlighted. As someone who lost 307 pounds with diet and exercise alone, I have maintained my weight loss using OMAD, but love reading about the experiences of others! I highly recommend this book!

I am very familiar with fasting, and have read many books and follow different people on Facebook, etc.I was surprised that you could lose weight so effortlessly, making up your own way to do it. She includes a cheat day, and allows for this probable weight gain without beating yourself up. Basically she eats whatever she cooks for her family, and it’s not Keto or lc.I had realized that I can’t do a diet that forbids foods, because I will end up binging on it.I bought a small fasting food journal to help me track almost everything.I have 25-20 lbs to lose; at 1/2 to 1 pound a week, it will take a while. I do best if I do OMAD, with a 2-3 hour eating window.Hopefully I will check back in on January 2020 with good results!!

The author is very personable and Inspiring. I totally agree that you need to make your plan easy so you don’t feel deprived and you’ll stick with it. Just don’t eat in your fasting window and eat foods you enjoy in your feasting window. I loved the book.

Really enjoyed this book. I follow Kayla’s YouTube and Facebook groups and still got more information in the book. It’s an easy read with what I like to think is a solid ‘common sense’ approach to a way of eating that a lot of people tend to complicate. I love her ‘keep it easy’ mantra through out and you can tell she’s practicing what she preaches. Refreshing!
